• Rendering a service offered by a workstation or server unavailable to others - Disabling the target.

• Reasons:

  • To get a system reboot
  • Hacker covering his/her tracks
  • Malicious intent

  • Ping of death - ICMP techniques
  • Syn (network) vulnerabilities
